Abstract:

Collection consists primarily of research materials gathered and created by Keith Walker for his book on the Stephanie Bryan murder case. These include court transcripts and other records from the 1956 California Supreme Court Appeal of Burton Abbott's 1955 conviction in Alameda County, crime scene photos, clippings, notebooks, and other material. Also included is some of Walker's correspondence regarding his research as well as his 1995 book on the case, A Trail of Corn.

Keith Lee Walker, born June 24, 1923 in Palo Alto, California, was trained as a journalist and worked for various San Francisco Bay Area newspapers. He worked as a court reporter in Redwood City, California from 1955 to 1975. Drawing on decades of research, Walker published his book, A Trail of Corn, in 1995. The book investigates the murder of Berkeley school girl Stephanie Bryan in 1955 and the trial of Burton Abbott for the crime. Walker is also the author of a mystery novel, The Escape (Vantage Press, 1970).
